A Classic
John Cowper Powys’ A Glastonbury Romance is a big, thick, sprawling novel that is worth the read. Some critics say it is equivalent to the best of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy in size ad scope. It is the type of novel that allows us to consider many things, those ideas and beliefs important in life, the ones for which we increasingly have little time (or so it seems). Take a break from life and treat yourself to this magnificent book. I guarantee you will be a different person by the time you finish.

A Horror Classic
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich Decades ago I missed the boat on this one. Then the movie came out and I needed another decade or so to get that out of my system. The story in the original novel here was far more brutal than the movie. There were some rather convenient plot points that helped speed the story along. However, I won't spoil that for any readers who may be new to the Stephen King experience. Misery was one King's best. Personally, I go in for the paranormal side of King's novels and stories. This one is very much a flesh and blood tale without any of the paranormal. It worked. Annie Wilkes will go down as one of the all-time baddies.
