Manufacturing Shortfalls
The Sword 1/48 T-38 Talon Model should not be rated for 14 and up, as it is not an easy model to build and will require many hours using dremel tools or micro saws and files. Resin parts have large excess resin injection chunks attached to 19 parts which can only be used once the excess is cut off, ground down and sanded with much labor just to free the parts for assembly and achieve the starting point of other better available models (i.e. Trumpeter 1/48 T-38). Additionally, many parts have to be asembled by estimating the best placement as there are no alignment pins, holes or tabs to guide the builder, i.e. the cockpit within the fuselage and the instrument display panels. Proportions of aircraft overall size appears to be too slim compared to real aircraft, fuselage is missing nose blade antenna, and dimensions for the Holloman AFB decal insignia (HO) for the vertical wing are oddly oversized. I do not recomend this kit when there are at least 2 other better makers of the T-38 model available.
