ASUS DSL-AC68U a phone line router

This router was a replacement for an ISP router, coming with much more functionality but at the cost of complexity. The ISP router had many of the values required to configure a connection already set and not visible. Unless you are confident you can obtain the necessary parameters and are confident about configuring a router then you would be better advised sticking with your ISP's router. Some of the routers default settings required changing in order to get it working reliably. However, if you are able then you will have access to much useful functionality in terms of of client management, traffic analysis and network protection from malware and other nasties.

Christmas came early - its a turkey something I do not like either.

This router is prone to interference both from household appliances and other, especially Netgear, routers. I upgraded from a trouble free Netgear DGN834, only to have problems with intermittently losing my wireless connection. If you alter the channel used you will find yourself hunted down by any neighbouring Netgear router which will move itself to the channel you have selected. Furthermore, the facilty to switch it off broadcast mode whilst usefull only works if you do not cross the witching hour (00:00). You are therefore best looking elsewhere for a basic wireless N router.
