Wonderful
A very fine book, flawlessly written, deeply poignant yet seamed with humour, some dark, some hilariously burlesque. All of it serving Farrell's theme of the end of Empire.
This book and his The Siege of Krishnapur (another great) were the first to win two Booker prizes.

Wonderfully readable by a gentle, caring man who rose above all obstacles to become a world leader.
