Great Album, Disappointing Update.
Firstly, I love David Ball, and I have every album he’s ever put out. However, buying this 25th anniversary release of one of his very best albums was all about the bonus material for me. “Previously unreleased material” to me meant MORE of this great album, but what I got was a couple of obviously unfinished demos, which were later finished used on his next album, what sound like some home recordings bunged in as “filler”, and an alternate version of the title track, on which the only difference seems to be a two bar intro that they eventually cut off for the original single release.
There is nothing much new here, and what there is, is not good enough quality to sit in with David Ball’s other material in a playlist, or to justify the price, which was double what I would have pay for the standard album in today’s market.
If you’re going to release an “anniversary” album with “bonus material”, don’t just chuck whatever bits of junk you can find in a draw in and double the price! Add a booklet with some background, find some finished songs that were never released or at least warn buyers that the extra stuff is incomplete or demo quality.
This release does not do the great artist, David Ball, justice. It’s just using his name and the memory of this great original album to repackage some junk and make a quick buck for the record company.

Rockin’!!
Ronnie Dawson was undoubtedly one of the most underrated rockers in the business. An unmistakable sound driven by his powerhouse baritone guitar playing. This album is a great showcase for a talent that deserved to be much wider known.
