To avoid the use of Steroids
Steroid nasal sprays while very effective for Allergic Rhinitis have the unfortunate effect on some patients, of advancing the rate of progress of cataracts and raising the (what I think is cause) intra-ocular eye pressure. The pressures are regularly checked by eye speciaiists and opticians and are typically in the mid-teens.
By avoiding steroid nasal sprays my pressures came down from a problematic 20+ to a satisfactory of about 12.
NasalCrom is termed a Mast Cell Stabiliser and works in a totally different way to steroids. It does however take a few days of use to achieve the desired effect.
A UK version (Rynacrom) around for many years seems discontinued?
