Zen and the Art of Mixing

Get inside the head of a mixing specialist

I'm an indie recording artist and also have my own personal studio. A pretty modest set-up but I also set reasonable expectations for what I attempt to accomplish with that studio. Mainly demos but also use it for overdubs. I think Mixerman makes a strong argument that a lifetime of mixing experience, and also a healthy dose of empathy for what the artist(s) go through to bring a project to a satisfying conclusion, is reason enough to not attempt to do more than what you (and I believe that this "you" refers to the intended target audience for "Zen") have absolute confidence that you can accomplish. He's also an engaging writer so it moves pretty quickly.
