Even more beautiful on bluray!
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I'd known for awhile that "The Iron Giant" was available on bluray but I had no idea that "The Signature Edition" had so many extra scenes in it that were created, with director Brad Bird leading the way, specifically for this edition. Let me just say that it was well worth it! Not only does the movie look amazing in high def but the new scenes really add more dimension to some of the characters! This was an animated movie that Warner Brothers really wasn't fully behind after their first entry in the field of theatrically released animation, (vs. the "straight-to-video" movies featuring classic WB characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck), "The Quest For Camelot", bombed at the box office. They wanted out and the result was that "The Iron Giant" also flopped. The real recognition began coming as more people saw the movie on VHS and DVD and people began catching on as to why the movie had received such spectacular reviews originally but the WB just didn't want to spend the money to promote it. A classic animated movie is now even better and I highly recommend it!

Better on Blu Ray
"My Favorite Year" looks and sounds even better on blu-ray! Unfortunately, there are no new "extras" with this edition but it does include what little was on the DVD release including Richard Benjamin's commentary. Perhaps, one day, Criterion will take it upon themselves to present their edition of the movie with whatever they can find in archives as well as new commentaries. For now, however, fans of this movie will have to settle for this blu-ray edition. The picture and sound quality, (DTS 2.0), improvements make owning this well worth it.
