works well except for 2 minor details
I bought this to replace 4D0837231E from a 2001 S4 Avant.
I swapped the circuit board and the key blade form the old one. The main buttons work perfectly. The pressure point on the panic button is offset from the switch on the circuit board. However, with enough pressure and finger wiggling it was possible to activate. On my original FOB the switch is off center of the panic button where as this one is directly in the center.
My issue was with the flipping mechanism so I removed the key after popping out the pin. The grove where the pin fits to hold the key was also slightly different. To get my key to work I had to file the grove slightly.

Works well
I installed this on a 2001 S4. This had the same dimensions and fit well. There were two very minor points that kept me from giving it a 5. There was a vent hole in the Al casting that wasn't completely cleaned out. The stock starter has a plastic isolator on the solenoid larger terminal. This could be moved over to the new unit, but an extra nut or spacer is required to use it. Overall I would recommend this unit.
