Koran -
The Glorious Koran(Qur'an)-the Book for Muslims around the world. The best English translations are older versions, like the Mohammed Marmaduke Pickthall version. Newer translations have been censored. To understand what Islam is about, it is essential to read their Book. Without doing some rudimentary work like this, making comments about Islam or blindly believing anything anyone says about Islam is quite frankly, talking out of your backside.
The Koran is, of course, essential reading for all Muslims-it is amazing how few have actually read it right through. It is also essential reading, ideally with the Hadith for Infidels who want to understand and comment on Islam without talking through their backsides. Knowledge is power, power is freedom.
What is interesting is that Infidels who have done their homework and read the Koran and thus have a bit of an understanding of Islam are often branded as "Islamophobes." This older Pickthall edition is about the best English version there is. The ideal is to learn Arabic to fully understand the meaning, but this is a bit too much to ask, especially as the Koran was originally transcribed in Aramaic, with no original Aramaic copies discovered to date.
Until such time as an authentic Aramaic Koran (this would be monumental ) is discovered, the Pickthall translation is the best available.
