Best fountain pen under $20 on the planet.
The Nemosine Singularity is possibly the best fountain pen value out there. This pen looks, feels, and performs like a much pricier pen, and lots of nib options. Highly recommend it!
Although I believe this is a great first-timer's fountain pen, I enjoy it a lot, and still add one to my collection every now and then, and I've been collecting and using fountain pens for over 50 years. For the money, I don't think you can get a better-looking, more versatile pen which is available in an astonishing variety of colors, both transparent and opaque.
Regarding this "Magenta" Demonstrator version, don't let the name fool you. Magenta is a dark hot pink. This pen is a lovely purple color, both fun and tasteful at the same time.
The nib options are out of the ordinary for a pen at this price point, as well. Great to have the option of a stub nib! The nibs are quite simple to swap out when you want a different writing experience, and not expensive to collect (they cost nearly what the pen costs, which tells you what a bargain the pens are!).
If I was to fault the pen for anything (and at the price, I don't really think it's fair to), I would say that once in a while, you may get one with a stingy ink-flow, and this is very easily solved by just pressing the tip of the nib-tines downward onto a dinner plate or other smooth hard surface, not enough to bend them, but simply to give the nib a slight separation from the feed underneath it. See SbreBrown's video on "How to make a pen wetter." If the nib is a little scratchy (very rare in these pens), write with it on a brown paper bag for a while, and that should take care of it. I have about 10 of these pens, and have yet to get a nib with a serious problem.
As with any brand-new fountain pen, before you ink it up, wash the nib and feed with some Windex and warm water to remove any factory machine oil residues, rinse it, and you're good to go.
If you're considering a Singularity, go for it!

The best "Expert."
Sometimes companies get it right the first time, and then change things up just to keep up with trends. Seems like that's what happened with Waterman's "Expert" fountain pen.
This first-generation Expert is a superbly balanced pen, and the nib, although a steel nib, is a beautiful writer. I have it in a medium and a fine, and I love both, even though I don't usually favor fine nibs. It is also very reliable, never had a skip or hard-start from the three I own.
The relatively light weight (the pen is plastic but substantial), excellent grip section, and perfect balance make this a pen I can write with all day without hand fatigue, and of course the smooth nib adds to that. I find the appearance of the pen very appealing as well, with a slight retro feel to it, rather than seeming dated. It's distinctive two-tone nib adds to that visual appeal and Art-Deco vibe.
The next generation Expert (known as the Mark II) and the current (Mark III) version seem heavy, businesslike, and soul-less, with bland, character-less nibs compared to this pen, although I understand they,too, are reliable.
All in all, it's too bad Waterman chose to change the Expert, so get yourself a first-gen model if you have the opportunity!

Super bang for the buck!
Great pen, very well-balanced, nice to grip, writes a nice bolt line, silky smooth. Great value for the price!
