So far this unit performs very well. I can see why they require for the warrantee for it to be installed by a professional. Not a lot of DYI's could do the installation correctly. It requires knowledge of electrical and mechanical workings of your furnace. Fortunately, I had that knowledge, so had no problems installing it. It did, however, take a substantial amount of time to do the installation because of the three parts of the installation. First, the sheetmetal work is required to physically install the unit and the bypass ductwork. Then the hot water piping requires cutting into the house hot water system. Then the electrical include multiple wires to the control unit, outside air sensor, and solenoid valve on the unit. I can't imagine what it would cost to have it installed professionally.
