Product seems to be well built, but batteries are hard to find
The light is sturdy and should hold up in rough seas. I like the design in that it wil start flashing when it floats in the water due to the weight of the 6V lantern battery. It begins flashing when horizontal, so if the light is stored off the rail, the battery should be disconnected, to keep it from accidentally draining the battery if it should fall into a horizontal position. The light flashes brightly at 1 second intervals as advertised.
The only thing I don't like is the requirement to use a 6V lantern battery with screw terminals. These are not commonly available at any of the hardware, electronics or big box stores. Even a specialty battery store in my area did not stock them. All that are in stock are batteries with spring terminals. Including an adaptor to allow use of the more common battery would have been nice. However, an appropriate battery was available on the internet.
I think this will be an excellent piece of safety gear. I hope to never have to use it.

Seems to be well made
This drogue is simple yet seems to be well made at a good price. The one improvement I would make is to change the metal ring supplied with it. It is a non-stainless steel split ring. Under heavy loads it will certainly bend and separate the drogue from its tether. In a sea environment it will soon rust.
Otherwise it appears to be a well made, durable item. I have not tested it, but time will tell.

Be prepared to put a lot of work into it to get it ready.
The sole on this plane is very rough. I spent the better part of a three day weekend flattening it using 60 grit emery cloth on a flat plate. I estimate the cost of the amount of paper used at $25.00. This is the first brand new plane I've had. I wonder If I shouldn't have shelled out a little more for a used one that had been initialized at some point in time before. Still, once the blade is sharpened, I think it will be a serviceable bench plane. I will need to invest another $40-$50 in stones and guides to make the blade sharp. It's been a good experience preparing the plane for use. If you want to gain that experience, this is a decent plane for that purpose. If you don't have the time, or don't need the experience, then perhaps a more expensive plane is a better choice for you.
