Make this Shore not a distant one
The Hep label always had high production standards thanks to its executive producer, Alastair Robertson. He could also turn up broadcast recordings in higher quality than one finds them on other labels. The 1940s were crucial years for Shore, who began to rise from anonymity to star profile, fueled by her wartime popularity. She's a far more significant talent than she is generally remembered to be, and had a warm and winning nature that was ideal for radio.

The sound quality..
1 von 4 finden das hilfreich ...leaves much to be desired, just as others have said. This is much in contrast to the releases of the Roach Charley Chase films by a different production house. I want to support projects like these, but only if the transfers have quality video and audio, when it is truly possible to have it.

Don't make this your first listening experience of Winifred Atwell...
This was my first purchase of a Winifred Atwell collection after receiving a recommendation that I should listen to her. My guess is that this is by no means not her prime stuff, but a budget knockoff. The running time of the tracks tend to be brief making me suspect that these may be transcription recordings. There's also a fair amount of echo on some tracks, so these come from different sources.
I know she was better than this because she appeared in Command Performances at the London Palladium. I will go looking for some of her recordings that appeared on major label LPs.
