Panasonic 18650 Cells Model S Tesla Lithium Ion Batteries

Very good value for experimenting with the Tesla-specific cells

As functional cells removed from a previous running Tesla Model S vehicle, these few Tesla-specified Panasonic cells are a very good value to test and experiment with. One common and easy to see difference is that the positive (anode) cap has a hexagonal design instead of a circular one. That allows a visual indication of the manufacturing specifications from the other common 18650 cells produced by regular manufacturers. I have my four cells installed and working in a large LED flashlight, and soon I can evaluate their long-term operation. In the future I plan to buy more individual cells for other devices, and maybe consider buying a full cell pack as assembled by Panasonic for the Model S electric vehicles.

One of the best single cells for experimental purposes at 24 Ah

The Panasonic assembled cell is of excellent quality. The cell held a 3.5 VDC charge when it arrived, and I charged it to 4.0 VDC with a small, slow, regulated charger (took three days), so the cell would not even warm up. I have three other identical cells, and I have begun to tie all in series as an experimental lead-acid battery replacement in my 2014 Ford Fusion, which uses this same cell in its high voltage traction battery.
