I only opened one to do a random test. The positive wire was protected from shorting with the negative wire by being covered in tape. The battery contained 3.77 volts before installation or charging in the Zune.

Awesome part...too bad it did not fit my fridge...be careful in you research.
This product was in perfect condition. The only problem is, I fell for a bait and switch while doing my research to find the product I needed by clicking on an ad which looked like it was a compatible part. The part looked identical in the picture, so I ordered this one based on that information found on a parts site. I really need part number 3391JJ2011A which I can't find anywhere...Part number AJP73934401 is 4 inches too wide for my fridge. Be very careful making sure you find the exact part number you need and don't be tempted to click on ads contained in your research links like I did.

It works
My flashlight was missing the metal case contact. This switch made it work again. Because it didn't come with the plastic installation tool, I used the batteries to carefully push the part that goes up inside the case, then connected the top half. I had to balance it carefully to keep the contact in place until it was finally assembled.
