Accurate model of real Baker's Chocolate car
This is an out of production, Intermountain HO scale model of a 40' Pfaudler Tank Car Company enclosed tank railcar that was leased to Baker's Chocolate Company. The model has wire grab irons and ladders. The printing on the side of the car matches a photograph of a car with the same number. All the brake lines and rigging under the car are visible from the side, and look right when viewed from underneath. It has the steam and air lines found on these cars so they could be coupled into passenger train consists. While the Baker's Chocolate Company's main plant is in southeastern Mass., the chocolate liquid was shipped throughout the United States and Canada. So this model of GPEX Milk Car #987 could be found on any railroad in the late 1940s to 1970s based upon an article in the New Haven Railroad Historical and Technical Association's magazine "Shoreliner," volume 18, issue 4. This rail car can add interesting operations possibilities as a run through or a drop off to a local chocolate factory on your HO scale layout.
