Great 5/8" pillow blocks for building DIY rock tumblers
These ball bearing pillow blocks are perfect for building DIY rock tumbling machines for either the 6 pound Loretone drums or for use with other drums including the larger hexagonal drums with internal rubber inserts. I use the 5/8" bore pillow blocks with 5/5" steel rod. I also slip a piece of 5/8" garden hose over the rods for better traction. Finally, I install 2" pulleys on the far end of each rod along with a short drive belt so that both rods are driving the drum with the same force = better traction. Check on-line information and install corrrect drive pulleys so that the drums rotate close to the proper feet per minute.
