Might work for some, but...
In principle, the product should work as intended, and it probably does for many users. But if you have a particularly tight-fitting crown race going onto a steel steerer, as I did, the supplied ABS tube that slides over the fork’s steerer tube simply does not transfer enough of the impact force when struck with a mallet or hammer. I was able to use the tool to get the race within about 1mm of being fully seated, but it would not move beyond that point. No matter how hard I hit the end of the tube, the ABS would just deform and not move the race any further. My suggestion would be to buy just the machined aluminum ring (available separately) that contacts the race, and get a length of steel pipe from a hardware store, to use as an impact driver rather than the relatively weak ABS pipe.

If you can find a good used one, buy it!
A real shame that Nitto no longer makes the B801 – it’s the ideal bend, rise and width for so many applications: fixies, city bikes, mountain bikes or, in our case, the stoker position on a vintage off-road tandem. Sure, there are cheap Chinese knockoffs of this bar, but none have the reputation for quality and durability of a genuine Nitto bar. There’s a reason Nitto was considered the “Cinelli of Japan,” back when that still meant something.
