One of the best TV shows ever made.
I remember this show vaguely from my youth when it originally aired on TV in 1990. I seldom ever watched it because I was more interested in cartoons back then. I do distinctly remember Kubiak spitting his chewing gum onto the locker back then in late 1990 into 1991. I found the first season of Parker Lewis Can't Lose episodes on YouTube as bootlegged and I watched all three seasons for free on Crackle since Sony owns Crackle and owns the rights to Parker Lewis Can't Lose.
And yet I still bought as many seasons of this TV show on DVD as I could find. That's how much I like it. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't release the third season on DVD because it featured the summer of 1992 in that season and that was an awesome time in my childhood. Even the title of the episode gets me sentimental.
I love this TV show's style. I love that type of expressive humor in which things are greatly exaggerated in order to be expressive and get the point across. I also enjoy the wacky loud colorful theme they use in the title card, the scenery, the sets, the wardrobe of Parker Lewis, and on the box art of the DVD.
Watching this TV show makes me want to find Houdini's golden ticket from Last Action Hero go into the Parker Lewis Can't Lose TV show to experience it. That's how awesome it is.
The characters are very well written, the plots can be hilarious if they actually happened in real life, and the episodes feel so lively. Dr. Norman Pankow, Grace Musso, Parker Lewis, Jerry, Mikey, Shelly, Larry Kubiak, and Frank Lemur are written so well and their chemistry as they interact with each other is very dynamic and interesting. Sometimes it's still hillarious even after I've watched the episodes a few times and I have watched every episode in season one at least three times. This TV show is how you wish high school could be.
Back to the characters...
Frank Lemur amuses me because he's such a passionate henchman. Troy Slaten's acting skills are really good as he plays the character of Jerry. Shelly does very well at the scheming vindictive sibling rivalry. There are so many good characters in that TV show. I don't want to write a huge review about on!Y the characters, but Parker Lewis Can't Lose is an awesome TV show. Well worth your money and time.
Take a break from the drama TV shows and reality TV shows to watch Parker Lewis Can't Lose and get a taste for some great culture. It's that good.
