Unbeatable for growing from seed.
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich The only thing to worry about is getting the right size for your plastic trays. Most refill pellets and the ones you buy already in plastic germination trays are 36 mm. The next size is 42 mm, which are the ones pictured. These are usually sold in plastic trays for tomato's and are to big if you are going to save and reuse the normal 36mm trays. Of course these are fine if going to refill your plastic tomato trays. It's just that the bottom of trays have certain size slots meant to hold tight each pod. You can still use but they will just sit on top of slots.
All that said I wouldn't trust my tender seedlings to anything else. So forgiving. I grow celery and it has to grow for 3 months before transplanting. I grow hundreds of seedlings of all kinds every year. I do not leave seedlings in the germination trays after they get first set of leaves. I Pick up the peat pods and place in prepared cups of dirt to go under the lights. All seedlings germinate at different rates, even when planted same date. Now, I use two cups, one with a few holes in bottom filled with dirt. I place that in another cup with a good amount of water. The dirt cup sits inside and waters from the bottom. If you water from top you will get build up of salts and chemicals that hurts seedlings. Doing this way you can water less and the roots follow the water. The pods will still be on plants at end of season. Still full of peat moss. They are amazing.
