Genuine and good value
Batteries are batteries but what distinguishes them, to my mind, is whether they are genuine and high performing compared with the available imitations.
The battery supplied is a genuine Olympus branded camera battery. In the camera it enables the battery level indicator to function. Having fully charged the battery before first use, it then produced just over 700 images from that charge, that's as good as it could be (probably reflecting a good proportion of shots having been taken in electronic shutter mode).
The price I paid for the battery was less than half the price of most retail and online suppliers who charge excessively (imo) for accessories.
