Classic Doctor Who novel
If you don't know what this book represents, don't buy it. But if you do -- namely, that it's the novelization of a televised Doctor Who story from the 1980s -- then know that this book is exactly what it purports to be. Nothing special; just a decent retelling of an old Who story.

Classic Doctor Who novel
If you didn't grow up reading Doctor Who Target novels, or watching classic Doctor Who, this book is not for you. But then, if you're reading this review, you almost certainly knew that already.
This particular book is written by John Peel, who writes workmanlike but unspectacular stuff. The book is apparently based on the original scripts for the story, rather than the actually televised version, and there are a few interesting differences. But the story, at its heart, is pretty silly, and not in a particularly entertaining way. If you want to spend a little while reliving the excitement of Target novels, it's just what the Doctor ordered.
