Great lamp at a great price
The price point is perfect. Function is perfect. No matter what you read, a lamp that uses 400 watts makes 400 watts of heat. it wouldn't matter if it was a high intensity discharge lamp or an LED. In this case, and 8 lamp t5 is about 440 Watts and I don't find that it makes more heat than any other lamp of the same type. In order to get the reflector to be mounted properly, I had to take the lamp apart to get some internal brackets aligned and attached. Because I'm quite handy, it was no big deal and I would still give the lamp a high rating. The 8 lamp unit is powerful, lightweight, has a long cord, has easy to replace ballasts, and the bulbs included. I own three of these lamps and I love them... for the price you can't go wrong.
