Understanding the Crisis in Tibet
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich An excellent introduction to Tibet as it exists today after having been taken over by Communist China. You are also introduced to the religion of this country which the athiest Chinese government attempted to completely suppress after the takeover. Due to their inability to accomplish this they now regulate mercilessly the Tibetan Buddhist religion, which centers around monasteries. "Patriotic reeducation" programs attempt to undermine the authority of the abbotts and reincarnate lamas and even suggest that the Communist Party is the true "living Buddha". A real crisis faces the Tibetan religion and culture which may only survive outside of Tibet. Highly recommended to anyone seeking to understand the roots of the recent unrest preceding the Summer Olympics.

Not Celia's finest - only 50% Celia - still worth the bargain price
You need to be aware that only half of these 36 recordings on three discs feature the singing of Celia Cruz. That said, for a super low price and free shipping, I'd say it is well worth purchasing. No notes about the recordings are provided other than title and primary vocalist, either Celia or one of the "Estrellas de la Sonora Matancera" ("Stars" of her early group, e.g. Daniel Santos. We aren't informed about where and when the recordings were made. Probably from her early days in Mexico. The sound quality is OK. If you love Celia's music and have heard her finest recordings a lot already, you could well be ready for these which offer new versions of hit songs as well as songs that were new at the time. The non-Celia recordings are pretty good too.
