Exremely comfortable and durable.
The MOLLE II system is as modular as they come. It's built around a plastic frame, and the bag, straps and waistband are individual pieces that can be replaced as they wear and age. There are several different options for the main bag, and each piece is readily available at very reasonable prices. The frame is thick, reinforced plastic, most likely glass filled, and is very durable yet reasonably light. The soft parts are made from heavy rip stop nylon. I believe the bag is waterproof, however I have not confirmed this. The large rucksack variant has a velcro and zippered divider between the upper compartment and lower, which allows you to use it as either a large single bag or separate the two compartments and access one from the bottom. The bag is covered with a gridwork of strapping that lets you securely attach side compartments and pouches wherever you see fit.
There are lighter bags on the market, but if you need a durable bag that can haul a lot of gear and you don't mind the weight, this is a great pack system that delivers a lot of space, flexibility and durability for the dollar.
