Moody & Cartoony Classics
7 "classic" stories. Pedro Rodriguez has a highly-detailed style that mixes dark, moody colors with a cartoony style that would be at home on Saturday morning cartoons. I bought this for Poe's "The Black Cat", and was surprised how much of the story he managed to "play" with while still generally being faithful to its source. I wonder how much he changed with the others? A very entertaining package!

Antarctic Press does POE for young readers.
My best friend said it in these words: "Antarctic Press does POE! Who would have imagined it?" While that publisher did not put out this book, they WERE involved in its design. Americans imitating the look of Japanese comics, from the look of how characters are drawn to the obsessively-detailed backgrounds, but in full color on slick paper in a hardbound format.
If you've read the Poe story, there's no surprises here, as far as I can tell, they use Poe's text verbatim. Not "great", but "nice", and, I imagine, appealing to younger readers, as the style manages to gloss over the seamier aspects of the story.
One point I found amusing: this version (there's around 40 different comics adaptations of this!) is set in a mansion far from any neighbors. How, then, did neighbors allegedly hear the old man's screams? (Heh)

Fun film with nice extras.
The films's notorious faults are what wind up making it highly entertaining. It did seem odd to me that the trailer for the film was at the beginning of the movie, rather than in the section for other Ed Wood trailers. The interviews were entertaining and informative.
The one thing I left me baffled was the "PIP" logo being onscreen in the lower-right corner for the entire run oif the DVD. It just doesn't seem like something that should have been there.
