I enjoyed this book b/c I grew up near that area, and the author's application of intelligence-analysis techniques to the local legends and lore was interesting.

Excellent DVD set of "The Smiling Proud Wanderer", aka "Laughing in the Wind"

Louis Cha's wuxia novel "The Smiling Proud Wanderer" describes the adventures of Linghu Chong, an honorable martial arts swordsman In 2001, a 40-episode tv series adaptation of this novel was shown on CCTV. It was released in 2005 as a 4-season 8-DVD set called "Laughing in the Wind"; here in the U.S., seasons 1-3 are readily available but season 4 is not. However, also in 2005, the same series was released in Korea under the title "Swordsman" as a 10-DVD box set. These DVDs have excellent picture and sound quality. The set arrived quickly were well packaged. If you live in the U.S,. and are interested in this series, "Swordsman" is an excellent way to follow the many twists and turns of Linghu Chong's journey.

Hard to find Cold War spy satire

The Unknown Man of Sandigor (aka L'Inconnu de Shandigor) is a 1967 Swiss (French language) movie that can be difficult to find; I was happy to find a copy at this price. The story is an unusual mix of Cold War spy thriller, satire, and some science fiction elements, somewhat reminiscent of Dr. Strangelove. It has many striking visuals and an expressionist fantasy style that I found memorable enough to watch it again. The new shrink-wrapped Blu-ray disc arrived promptly. I believe the digital remastering was done circa 2021, and the picture quality is excellent, as you would expect for the Blu-ray format.
