...this lens is too inexpensive NOT to own.
I've used on a few trips to our local zoo, and also at a wedding a few weeks ago with my Nikon D610. For around a $100, this lens is a steal. It's small, compact, unassuming, and the image quality is stellar. It's contrasty, sharp than I expected, beautiful color. It renders the bokeh with beautiful character. The manual focus ring is smooth and accurate - dare I say I can manually focus this thing faster than my 85mm f/1.4G with autofocus. The aperture ring clicks into place beautifully. Really, aside from it being a manual focus lens, there is nothing to NOT like. This lens really lives up to the Nikkor Legendary Lens status.
If you need autofocus, look elsewhere. If you can live without autofocus, if you're a portrait shooter, or you want a great walk around telephoto lens, this lens is too inexpensive NOT to own.
Just a note: This lens works great with the digital camera bodies that have the "non-cpu lens data" menu option - so check your camera to make sure you have this feature so your lens can meter and read the aperture settings of the lens.
