Great item. I think it's the best indoor plant/lantern hanger out there.
I got this to hang a large antique handmade lantern I got in Iraq. The lantern is very ornate and heavy and holds a lot of sentimental value for me. None of the options I've found online seemed appropriate. I spent a lot of time searching amazon, ebay, and other sites. This one looked good and the price was great. It works like a charm. The wide base is good for supporting a medium to large hanging pot or lantern. I am concerned about stability having a heavy weight on one side, so I hung another large Turkish mosaic lantern on the other side to balance it. I believe (but haven't yet tried) a 25lb barbell weight disk would fit on the rod and sit just above the base, ensuring stability. That's on my to-do list. For now, the two weights counterbalance each other. It's stable enough, we plan to add at least 1 hanging plant in the future. The hanging arms slide down onto the upright rod using a pigtail or corkscrew-style loop on one end and are held in place by friction. They come with rubber washers which prevent the arms from slipping. I do not believe they will ever slip out of place or the arms will fall off. FWIW, I am endorsing this item because I genuinely like it and I would not entrust it with those two lanterns if I did not believe in it. If I can trust it, I think so can you.
