This clock has unique open loop style minute and hour hands which I find appealing. It is indeed silent. I find the second hand useful for timing certain tasks. Easy to read. Sadly, the internal clock mechanism does not stay true to the time. It slowly runs behind the actual time, requiring adjusting the time on the clock. There is a one year warranty. I have not tried getting a replacement via the warranty yet.
