Fantastic lens - highly recommended.
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich There is simply no comparison with the smaller and cheaper Sony/Minolta 50/1.4. The images are as if three dimensional even wide open. If one needs a high speed 50mm, than there is no contest.
That said, if you can live with f2.8, than the Sony/Minolta 50mm/2.8 macro produces similarly great images at a fraction of the cost of the Zeiss.

Miles ahead of the earlier versions and the competition.
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich Super fast, accurate and quiet focusing. Images are tack sharp from wide open.
The latest coatings, internal focusing motor and weather protection makes the extra $1,000 worth it.
A note of caution: this lens will not auto-focus with the older, Minolta (except D version) teleconverters, as the lens has its own focusing motor. I had to buy a new set, that adds another grand to the affair. Fortunately, the new Sony TC's are backward compatible (except for 200mm/f4 macro).

Elegant
It's a lot thiner than I expected - looks great on my hand. The only thing that I would "improve upon" is to dispense with the texturing of the face plate . . . .
