Great seller and great communication throughout. Slight delay with delivery, but not the sellers fault at all.

    About damn time!
I've been wearing down a tape of this superb soundtrack to Alex Cox's superbly strange film for years now, so I'm excited and relieved to see it on a CD at last...and an expanded one is more than I could've hoped for! I'm a little puzzled by the reordering of tracks here, as opposed to my old cassette, but don't really care. (Although one caveat: The Pogues covering 'The Good, The Bad & The Ugly appears to have not made the transfer. I'm guessing licensing came into play.) The quality of music here is top notch, running from pre-Mescaleros Tex-Mex Joe Strummer, through Leone/Morricone-inspired Western themes by the mysterious The Pogues and Pray For Rain, to re-recorded classics from The Pogues (unforgettable in the film), all sprinkled very sparingly with some dialogue from the film itself. On top of all this is a HEFTY booklet, containing three essays from different sources, as well as some nice behind-the-scenes photos. I honestly don't know what the casual, uninformed listener would think of this CD, but a fans of the film would be (like I am) in audio heaven with this in their ears.

A beautiful collection of sounds, from quirky to mesmerising.
I'm a huge fan of Wes Anderson, and a large part of experiencing his work is the accompanying soundtrack. Up until Darjeeling, though, I've had most of the music he used. Darjeeling culls its soundtrack from the usual classic pop/rock sources, but even moreso from the scores of the Indian films of James Ivory and Ramjit Singh. And THAT'S finally what made me buy my first Anderson soundtrack. If you've seen the movie, you know the soundtrack is enchanting and practically flawless. The CD presents it basically in order from the movie, starting with the track from the short 'Hotel Chevalier' and ending with 'Champs Elysees' from the closing credits. The blend of English rock, French pop, and Indian-based score would probably be jarring if this were just a mix tape, but in the context of this soundtrack it's utterly evocative. The packaging is as lovely and considered as Anderson's films, with some closeup stills of props we see in the film for only seconds...and a fun surprise under the disc in the tray insert.

    Just one step up
I'll start out by saying this is not a movie for me, but to replace my wife's old VHS copy. There are enough reviews of the film itself here, and synopses as well, so I'll just jump right to the DVD. The film transfer is very nice, as is the audio. It's nice to see all the garish detail on Marisa Tomei's frightful outfits, as well as to hear details the old audio washed out. This disc does accommodate widescreen viewing, rather than forcing widescreen into a TV sized frame, so that's nice. The extras are pretty thin, but probably more than anyone buying this movie will ever want: there's a director's commentary and 2 trailers. If you like this movie (and who'd be buying it on DVD if they didn't already know they liked it?), the DVD doesn't disappoint.
