not sure if it's badger or any real hair
I've used this 3 times now and it's falling apart already. More importantly, I don't know what it's made of but it's not Badger hair. I've had quality brushes before and not only are the bristles much stiffer, longer and dense but they don't smell either like this does. Wasn't sure about trying a lower cost brush and now I am sure... won't do it again.

works fine; just doesn't stay straight up, weight of top always makes it fall to the side

It works
It does the job it's designed for and pretty comfortable compared to some others; lightweight but can't see great, which is kind of expected.
