Counterfiet 1887 P Morgan
11 von 12 finden das hilfreich I purchased the 1887 P Morgan Silver Dollar on 02 Jan 2010. I bought the coin for my collection under the pretense that it was an original. I was out of town on & off for several days after its arrival. After careful inspection, I notice there was a faint marking where the mint mark usually is located (not on the P coins). The weight did not feel quite right either. So I took it to my local dealer for his opinion. It is a fake, a good one, but none the less a counterfiet. The coin is a full gram lighter than original Morgans. It also has other faint markings not consistent with Morgans or VAMs. I did not have the metal checked, but his opinion is it is not made of silver. Ebay Buyers Beware! Check your coins immediately upon receipt! Incorrect weight & odd markings are a very good clue the coin is counterfiet. My dealer said they are starting to see more & more fake coins, in his words, from China. I hope this review helps others to not get "ripped off."
