I'm a retired professional photographer and licensed pilot and just like to fly things, small and large. Like my Syma X8C quadcopter. I've flown real copters but have problems with my X8C. I never pranged a real copter, but I have spares for the X8C.

I would recommend a photo of the original wiring, or make a detailed drawing marking each wire color, BEFORE you unsolder the first wire!
I received the board and installed it. I looked online for a "how-to" video and that made it simpler. I also drew a plan where each and every connection was and what color the wire to be soldered. That helped tremendously.
On completing the wiring, I made I double checked the connections again to make sure I had them wired correctly.
When I finished I ran a check on the rotation of the blades and found one blade was turning in the wrong direction. After some study I took the motor out and replaced it with another with the same wiring. Then it worked correctly.
I found that the motor - from the factory - was wired incorrectly and was running backward.
In a correspondence course I took years ago one thing was emphasized -- ALWAYS check each step as you go to see if everything you did was done correctly at that point in time and you will catch many errors, whether yours or a factory error. IE: Where possible, don't button up the item before you check it to see if it runs correctly and you will save yourself lots of time and grief!

Lots of fun to fly one, but a little tricky to master it. I've flown real helicopters but flying a drone is so different not being in the cockpit.
Good little ship. Haven't mastered it yet but fly it so I'm watching the green lights going away. I get lost when I fly it toward me. I put white deflectors (on the black drone) in front so I can tell which way it is going looking up at it. Reverse that if you have a white drone. I have three batteries but never fly it until the motors cool off.
