Great unlocked Verizon variant LG V50 phone, calls not working on T-Mobile.

Phone does connect to T-Mobile 4G network okay as text message and web browsing are working fine. Only calls have issue. Most of the time when try to make call 4G signal icon changes to E ( probably short for Edge network) and call fails. Phone signal shows 2 bars. From the exact same location, same sim swapped to LG G8 T-Mobile variant, G8 shows 4 bars call works all the time!
