Stunning. Can have issues, but they're an easy fix, so read on...

Fantastic piece of kit, but it's VERY bright, so you need to turn the brightness & contrast down to about 35%. Quite happy running at 1600 x 900. Commercial DVDs look great - no 'letterboxing' either - & it's excellent for Graphic Design/DTP work. Gamers ought to be satisfied with it too; admittedly I've only tried it with Combat Flight Simulator & the old Turok series of RPGs, but they look just fine. Very clear, not unduly heavy & very easy to adjust. Sports both VGA & DVI inputs. It's good for your posture too! I now find it much more comfortable to sit back rather than being all hunched up. ***** TOP TIP ***** Look out for examples listed as 'Faulty'. These can have a common fault in the power supply circuitry that's dead easy to fix if you're happy wielding a screwdriver & soldering iron. There are six capacitors that tend to fail, total cost for replacements should only be a couple of quid. For more information on this head over to the Badcaps.net forum & search for 224BW... you'll get 20 pages of discussion on this model & a LOT of helpful info. So, find yourself a dud 224BW, get the soldering iron warmed up & get a bargain.

Punches above its weight

Excellent bit of kit - it won't replace your Dremel, but it's better suited to for lightweight/delicate jobs. The pull-out-push-in friction chuck is unusual & takes a little practice at first, but seems to work OK. A set of rechargeable batteries are probably a must.

Barely fit for purpose, don't buy if you're looking for a micro saw.

Swann Morton blades are 15 thou. so these blades are guaranteed to be a sloppy fit to a handle as they're only 10 thou. Three out of the four jumped out of the handle under light use (cutting sprue). It's possible to secure by wedging another blade over the top, but this shouldn't be necessary. Long blades will bend/kink if pushed - use on the pull stroke only. No Stars isn't accepted, so had to rate this at one star more than it deserves.
