WINDSCREEN REMOVAL TOOL KIT FOR BONDED AND RUBBERED SCREENS WINDSHEILD

No good for modern bonded screens
I bought this to remove the bonding from a smashed toughened glass screen so I had the adhesive and shattered pieces of glass to remove.
Perhaps I could've rated it as "okay" to give some parts of it the benefit of the doubt as i didn't use them. But what i did use was just rubbish.
Starting with the wire and T-handles, the handles themselves are strong and comfortable to use but the wire is simply not strong enough for a bonded adhesive, it fatigues quickly with the heat generated using a sawing motion and breaks but will break instantly if you try to pull it through like cheesewire. I read that if you buy a good quality wire it is fine... well that's not much help here is it?
To be honest, I had really only planned to use the upright 90 º blade with the handle on a cable t cut the adhesive as that is more controllable. This was where disappointment met utter disbelief. The blade wasn't actually a blade. It is a 3mm thick piece of metal bent and shaped to a point! Honestly! Why is there not actually a sharp edge on it? I had to take it to my bench grinder to get a cutting edge on the blade.
In it's native form I imagine I would have had similar success by simply shouting at the adhesive for all the use that this tool is!
2x T15 W16W 921 CANBUS SAFE LED REVERSE LIGHT BULBS PURE WHITE SAMSUNG 15 SMD

Not Error Free on BMW - will need coding.
I bought these for an E60 BMW and seeing as they are in a BMW in the picture, you'd think they'd work in one wouldn't you?
Let me start off by saying that I have bought from Light-Tec before and have been very pleased with the products so I'm a returning customer and I am not going to bad-mouth the seller. Also, I am writing this review so that you know what to expect if you are planning the same modification as I have done.
Simply put, they are "CANBUS Safe" but that doesn't mean they won't error or flicker on certain cars so it's not a false claim. If you don't understand how the system works, you will probably come unstuck with these. Most people don't have an interest in this so it's no great surprise but I do find it irritating that some of them will try to fit a part not sanctioned by the manufacturer for compatibility and then complain that the part doesn't work.
In the case of the BMW E60, it sends a series of very small electrical pulses to it's bulbs and monitors the resistance from them to ascertain whether or not the bulb is functioning. For an ordinary filament type bulb it is not enough power to light it but is enough to get a reading. LEDs as we all know require very little power to work and therefore can give a strobing effect as the car pulses what it believes should be an ordinary bulb. Periodically it will perform the procedure to ensure functionality (that's why sometimes it will alert you to a bulb failure when you aren't even using the bulbs). I have found this to be the case on the E60, whilst many people could possibly live with this on first start, you wouldn't want to have a strobe effect reverse light every few minutes as it would be pretty awful for anyone following you and it looks crap!
I found that the E60 also reports these as bulb failures, clearly there is not enough resistance on these LEDs for it to detect them.
What can you do about it? Well, one way to get it to work would be to fit resistors but I doubt that will stop the strobing, or you could fit a resistor and a relay to turn on the LED as it would probably not send enough current during the bulb test to actuate a relay but this is really messy and is a false economy as the bulb failure warning will never work properly.
My solution was to code out the cold and warm monitoring for the reverse lights - if the bulb failure warning is going to be cheated it may as well be removed. I have the ability to do this at home but coding the lighting module on a BMW is not for the foolhardy DIY'er.
For the reasons above, I would not recommend this product as a plug and play option but I will say that it looks to be a very good set of LEDs if viewed as a stand alone product.
They seem to be VERY powerful though.
Hopefully this will help you decide if you want to go down this route (or any LED option for that matter).

Pretty good sockets. Still can't quite ...
Pretty good sockets. Still can't quite understand exactly how they work but they do.
