Thank God for Steven Spielberg!
There really are no cons about this movie. Spielberg had made such an important film esp. in black/white it continues to hold up after more than 25 years. I actually had seen it back upon release in theatre. You could hear a pin drop when Liam's character is trying to rescue his workers out of the gas chamber.
Many more scenes to describe unlimited. See it for yourself,

INCREDIBLY RELEVANT AND FUNNY AND PATHETIC DUE TO SUBJECT MATTER...
I got this book for a Xmas present for my partner...not only have we laughed so hard but just about every cartoon is still relevant in 2019...yes 2019! I have been furloughed for 3 weeks now and have no income because the President has put us Fed Govt employees in the middle of his argument about the wall...I am laughing when I should be crying b/c my bills are piling up with no payment in sight...
I highly recommend this book to any govt employee on furlough..
p.s. we have been required to come to work Tomorrow 1/13/19 without pay...yes, I said without pay...I would set up a GoFundMe page but i'm too depressed...

"1944" is literally the Book of the Year! Good Read! I want Winik's autograph!!
I asked my brother to get me this book for Xmas a few yrs ago. I saw it at Costco, flipped thru it, and thought this looked pretty good. I was wrong....It was OUTSTANDING.
Mr. Winik has a writing style much like Truman Capote. He takes a true event and weaves fictional style into the making of the story. And it's all shocking. The escape of Rudy Vrba and Alfred Wetzler the author gives a moment by moment account. The villain(s) are certainly the Nazis and their collaborators. But he does not leave out US Deputy Secretary John Mc Cloy who does everything in his power to dismiss helping the Jews at Auschwitz. One of the few heroes was John Pehle of the Treasury Department under Henry Morgenthau Jr. He kept pushing for rescuing Jews under the War Refugee Program with his ''Acquiescence" report. Mr. Winik documents all of these events years after the fact. He also, as far as style, goes back and forth between FDR & Churchill and the death camp decision makers/technicians in Berlin and Budapest.
As you read this book take your yellow hi-liter to underline certain words, phrases and paragraphs. You will be able to flip back to refer to certain individuals who keep coming up again and again as either the villains or heroes. Schulte and Riegner come up frequently as they do in other books re the Holocaust.
I highly recommend this book with 10 stars.
