OK for the hits but don't expect more.
Knowing the Righteous Brothers' big hits, I expected there would be several other good songs on this album. I was wrong! The album is still worth buying for the hits: You've Lost that Loving Feeling, Ebb Tide, Unchained Melody, Soul and Inspiration, and (maybe) Rock and Roll Heaven. I also like White Cliffs of Dover. But the rest of the songs are pretty bad. Who was deciding their song choices???? With the wonderful harmony these guys had, they could have done great covers of standards or of soulful ballads like You'll Never Walk Alone or I Who Have Nothing. It's sad.
Nevertheless, this album usually comes cheap and has four of the greatest white soul ballads ever recorded. It's worth buying for those alone.

Good Overview but not Strong on Drawing Technique
Like most DK books, this is a beautiful book with many full color illustrations and photographs. However, there are better books for learning to draw the human figure. The problem lies with the DK format: seeking to create a colorful, fast-moving, entertaining book, the book demonstrates figure drawing done in different, colorful media but fails to devote enough time to the basic techniques needed to render a realistic figure drawing. Still, it's a beautiful book and I knew what I was buying. But for the person who really wants to learn to draw the figure, a simple black and white instructional book would be better, such as Jack Hamm's excellent head and figure book.

Gorgeous Book
This book is enlightening, entertaining and just beautiful to look through. I've always liked the DK format in general -- many pictures and photos interspersed with a lively and informative text -- but I think DK is most effective when doing an art survey like this, and this one is particularly well done! If you have any interest in Art Nouveau, either as a collector or as a casual student, this is the book to own! Wonderful!
