Solid, good feel camera
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich This is my fourth Olympus digital camera. This black beauty is the best so far. The 6 megapixels iprovides great color resolution for up to 13 x 19 prints. I will never buy a camera again without a viewfinder (ie Olympus Verve and others) they are simply impossible to use in direct sunlight. The viewfinder on the SP 500 however is bright and provides as much info as you may want.
The use of 4 AA batteries is a plus, allows for easy replacemnt or recharging on a trip or long photo shoot. Just remember to take a spare set and the relatively short battery life will not be a problem.
If there is one small criticsim that I might have, it is that the camera is too small. I have realtivelylarge hands and actually appreciate a camera with a little more size and weight. However, having said this, the button and controls are convienent and in expected places, so it is not difficult to use.
Overall, a reliable, solid and great quality camera for nearly all uses. Not an SLR, but with a 10 x optical zoom, and a micro focus, can't imagine why you'd need any other lens anyway.

Even better than expected
Bought this camera to replace my Pentax K20D which I had converted to infrared photography. The K-r allows me to use all my other Pentax lens. Now I use the K-r as my favored DSLR. I also own a Canon 5D (full frame) and quite frankly, I find the K-r picture quality nearly as good and the Pentax is much handier to use as well.
The K-r also has some unique filters that are also fun to play with including a filter that basically converts your images to black and white while retaining your choice of one color.
Compared to my Pentax k20D, this Pentax K-r is not as substantial in construction and is much lighter. (I actually like the heavier weight of the K-20D.) However, I do love the white body and white lens of the K-r.
Overall, the K-r is my favorite Pentax to date - and this goes back to the original 35 mm Pentax SP.
