Essential equipment to operate a catalytic wood burning stove properly
This thermometer was low in price and operates very well. It tells the stove operator when the catalytic combustor is ready to be invoked so that the catalytic wood burning stove can operate efficiently as it was designed to do.

Used to move a wood burning stove into position. Worked, did what I needed to get accomplished.
Used the pads to move a 380 pound wood burning stove into position on a brick hearth. Would recommend to move furniture or appliances. Did the job. Worth the 8+ dollars cost if you work by yourself.

Worthwhile device to control a catalytic burning stove
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I use several thermometers to observe the operation of a catalytic wood burning stove. I monitor the stove body temperature to prevent over firing. Five hundred degrees is the maximum body temperature I allow. The Catalytic Combustor temperature is monitored to assure it is up to temperature before it is implemented into the exhaust circuit. The Combustor should be up to 500 degrees prior to being implemented it will then rise to about 1300 degrees or so when in full operation. The Flue temperature is also monitored by the flue gas thermometer to observe the heat in the flue does not become over heated and that wasted heat does not go up the flue. Initially I run the stove fire hot to heat up the combustor. The flue gas temperature is around 1300 degrees, quite hot for about 10 minutes. When the combustor comes up to temperature, I shut down the air and the combustor heads toward 1300 degrees while the flu temperature settles down to about 550 degrees. All of the creosote is being burned in the combustor. and the stove perks along until the load of wood becomes coals. I get a clean burn with any type of wood, most of the head is developed and dispersed within the stove (catalytic combustor) and the flue gas is devoid of creosote because it is burnt in the combustor. The flue pipe has a very thin coat of creosote after two cords of varied wood is run through the stove. All three thermometers mentioned in this review ensure a clean burning efficient wood burning stove. Also, make sure that the catalytic combustor and the catalytic thermometer are at least half to three quarters of an inch apart. If they are closer, you could poison the combustor and melt the thermometer. Have a happy wood burning season.
