This is for a replacement on a solid wood door. Had we decided to use the same holes as the old door, it would have fit perfectly and no modification to the jamb would be needed.
In our case, we decided it would look better if it was mounted about 4" higher. That means I need to raise the door latch and the deadbolt plate a bit.
Now, realize that I built the house myself, and placed the original hardware more or less where we thought it best. That doesn't mean everybody's door is like ours. Meaning, you may well want to install it in the original or standard location and that is a very easy job.
The unit is really heavy, matches the rest of the house and I'd sure recommend it to anyone needing a sturdy latch and deadbolt.
