A Silly Sequel Worth a Try
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I liked the movie! It's made for TV so it's not the quality of a theater film, but it does have its moments. We've been long-time fans of the original "Christmas Vacation" and watch it at least four times a year (not all during the Christmas holidays), so this "sequel" was something we just naturally had to have. My wife and I like it, our kids like it, but our grandkids, used to the first movie, don't bother...they just don't have the same sense of humor we do, I guess. If you don't go into this movie with high expectations you're going to like it. I do recommend it, but please, keep the original "Christmas Vacation" close by to get a proper perspective...many of the jokes in this movie are references to jokes in the original.

The Holy Grail of Airplane Models from the 1950s
This Monogram Models kit of 18 1/240th scale 1950s USAF aircraft on a display stand was released for Christmas in 1959 and has become THE most sought after collector's kit in history! Originally priced at $3.95 at your local toy store/hobby shop/pharmacy as the 1960s loomed just around the corner, it is so popular and collectable today that it often commands prices in the many hundreds of dollars; one kit that I saw in the vendors room at an International Plastic Modelers Society convention about ten years ago sold for $650, and another sold on eBay not many weeks afterwards for $700! The official Monogram Models history (Graham © 2005) lists the collectors' price at $250-$275 but that was low, even for that time, and most of the Air Power kits I've seen on eBay since have sold for around $400-$500. I feel more than fortunate to have acquired my kit on eBay for under $250, shipping included. I think it was a fluke of bidding misfortune on the other bidders' parts, but I was elated to win the auction! The kit I received is not without its faults: vertical stabilizer for the F-101 was missing (I had to create a new part from plastic sheet stock but it looks passable) and a half dozen or so of the little models were already assembled. As a true collector's kit, it loses a lot of value because of these anomalies, not to mention yellowed decals and instruction sheet, but it's great for me, since I bought one of these kits new in the store, built it as a preteen and have wanted another of these kits ever since I returned to model aircraft building 40 years ago! If YOU are able to get one of these kits, no matter what shape it's in, you should feel fortunate that you possess one of the greatest Monogram Models creations ever produced. It's that good.

1/144 Scale P-51 by Platz
This is easily the best P-51D model in this small scale. It's amazing how much detail Platz molded into the pieces and how easily the model went together. Great fit, great looking, great model. Highly recommended.
