Perfect fit – easy to Install
I am very pleased with the quality of the Front Fender Extender made by Pyramid Plastics for the Yamaha MT-09 and FZ-09.
I chose to remove the front fender of my FZ-09 because I decided to epoxy the Fender Extender to the fender rather than drilling and using the plastic rivets. To make the task easier I recommend you remove the left front caliper so the brake hoses are not in the way when removing and replacing the fender. Just hang the caliper from the handle bars with a straightened metal clothes hanger.
I cleaned the underside of the fender with soap and water then scuffed the install area of the fender and the install area of the Fender Extender with 80 grit sandpaper to roughen the surfaces for better adhesion when glued together. Before gluing, wipe clean these areas with alcohol.
I mixed the two part epoxy and spread a full coverage layer on the two surfaces. At that point, I pressed the sections together and held them in place by hand for five minutes as they cured enough to release. If any epoxy oozes out, you can wipe it off with a slightly wet paper towel. I let the fender cure for 24 hours (off the bike) then reinstalled it.
The next day I rode the bike on all kinds of roads for 145 miles. Upon my return home the Fender Extender was as secure as when I left and the radiator and lower part of the engine/exhaust pipes were 85 percent cleaner than before installation of the Fender Extender. I was very pleased!
