Vortec assembled 906 heads reviewed my impressions. So I was skeptical about quality of Chinese heads in general because of previous quality issues in general known to be problem. I have been aware of EQ products for some time and a generally good reputation. I watched the company’s video concerning quality control and decided to give them a try. I ordered 4 cylinder heads for a twin engine boat that needed an immediate top end replacement. They were shipped promptly and upon receiving I observed they were double packed with tons of padding to insure no damage during shipment. After unpacking, an inspection revealed clean castings, a coating of preservative oil and over all very nice assemblies. Ports had very minimal parting line flash. No core shift was evident and ports appeared to be properly located. I washed the heads in new Varsol as I wanted to be able to see how clean the heads were. To my surprise there was virtually no metal or contamination in the solvent after washing. I didn’t disassemble to check seat or valve face run out, but judging by the quality of the rest of the machine work, that it would be reasonably in spec. I am of the opinion that these heads offer decent quality for a reasonable price. As of this time I would recommend them to anyone who needs an assembled head that can be placed in service with little need for extra prep before install.
