Excellent reference copy.
I had to own this book. I picked up an original hardbound copy at the local library and found myself compelled to read it cover to cover. I then needed a copy that I could highlight for my own reference so this paperback is it. The quality of images in this paperback is not as good in tonal values and a few pictures are different but comparing one to the other they are 98% identical. I suggest this for any serious landscape painter as required reading.

Boring and Drab
Handell was an excellent painter and teacher, in his time. I found the content basic and old school in teaching style. Not tempting for student to learn from. Photos were not colorful, and some are very uninteresting. I donated the book to our in-house senior library.

Paris & Art
This is very full of information and an interesting DVD. My attraction to it was by way of someone else's comments. I am not sorry I purchased it and I would recommend it to anyone interested in art history.
