Pleasantly surprised.

Upon opening pkg. I was skeptical that this peeler would be as sturdy as my original one of same brand that I had for many years but wore out. This new one is smaller, has some plastic parts. However, it turns out to be engineered well. The countertop opening is wide enough for my counters (old one wasn't), the blade is sharp and cuts easily, and also pivots a bit to allow for contour of the apples (old one didn't). The opening for the fruit is a bit narrower but I was able to peel medium-large apples, no problem.

Tiny safety hazard

These are too tiny to be party favors for kids. The stem could easily injure an eye when in flight, or even a foot if stepped on with bare feet. They're cute but also a safety hazard. Pkg. does warn they are not for children under 3 yrs., but I don't think any age would be practical.
