Great Mid-budget headphones.
I bought these predominantly to use at my work desk plugged into a P.C.
I bought an Audioquest Dragonfly Black DAC to go with them.
Initially, I was not wowed by the sound, I thought it was a little peaky and with a woolly bass, but maybe I was not listening to the right music, they sound lovely with well recorded albums but showed up poor recordings ruthlessly.
I then tried them plugged directly into the headphone socket of the serious hifi (valve amplifier) Now I really started to enjoy them, they are quite neutral and great fun. Mine are the latest version with larger earpads, I had a good few hours listening with no fatigue and no ear aches. Very comfortable.
The soundstage could be wider, the midrange is most dominant which suits my musical tastes, the highs are good, but I think the bass is the poorest area overall. The bass seems too heavy with everything, it's not overly done, but is made much worse by being very loose and woolly. I will forgive them though as they are excellent in all other areas. And again, they are great fun, lots of foot tapping.
Build quality is excellent, some have complained about the cables being microphonic rubbing on clothes, you can reproduce that, but it's not bad at all. Flicking the metal headband makes the cans ring.
All in all I will recommend these. Very analogue sound and did I say great fun??

It’s too old now to compete and be credible
